Our Edwardsville CEO students had an eye-opening visit with Jane Ahasay (Executive Director) and Susan (Food Pantry Manager) of Glen-Ed Pantry, learning what it takes to operate a nonprofit organization that makes such an important difference in our community!
One of the biggest takeaways? 𝑵𝑶𝑵𝑷𝑹𝑶𝑭𝑰𝑻 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔𝒏'𝒕 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝑵𝑶𝑵-𝑩𝑼𝑺𝑰𝑵𝑬𝑺𝑺! 💡
Jane and Susan walked us through the business side of running a nonprofit -- from budgeting, managing expenses, and generating revenue through their thrift shop to fundraising, strategic planning, and measuring impact.
Students also learned about the incredible programs Glen-Ed provides, including food assistance, school supplies, summer meals for children, and help with essential household needs.
And with plans underway for a new $3 MILLION facility, we got a firsthand look at how VISION, RESOURCEFULNESS, and COMMUNITY SUPPORT can help an organization expand its impact! 🏗️
Perhaps the most important lesson? 𝙀𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙞𝙨𝙣'𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙮. 𝙎𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙩'𝙨 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚, 𝙨𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙫𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙢𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚 𝙊𝙏𝙃𝙀𝙍𝙎.
A HUGE thank you to Jane, Susan, and the Glen-Ed Food Pantry team for sharing your time, your mission, and the incredible work you do for our neighbors every day!
