Guest Speaker | Liz Duggan

It is always a treat when we are able to have two different groups of CEO students interact. This morning, we were joined virtually by Jersey County CEO! Their facilitator, Liz Duggan, shared her story. Liz started college at SIUE and transferred to U of I Springfield. After a trip to Nashville, she decided she wanted to work in the country music industry. She pursued an internship with CMT and eventually came back to St. Louis to work on the sales team for the Rams. This position led her to an opportunity at Cabela’s to facilitate contracts with top name country music artists including Justin Moore and Luke Bryan which she did for over 7 years!

Liz’s story is a fantastic example that life is hardly ever a clear, linear path. There are unexpected bends and twists in the road that you must learn to navigate.
--
Liz stressed to our students an incredibly important lesson…do not hold your identity in things that can be taken away from you. Who you are, your character traits and values, are more important than your job or other things that can be lost or changed. Your traits and beliefs cannot be taken away from you and are the root of who you are—never lose sight of that and you will always be firm in your identity, even when the road twists and bends.
--
After their conversation with Liz, students were able to work in groups to begin creating some promotional marketing material for a few of our local businesses! Students will finish these up this week.

A huge thank you to Liz for sharing your story and experiences!!
