Guest Speaker | Amy Schmidt
--
At the end of the day, we all want to feel valued and important. What matters most in any career is how you work with people.
--
Joining CEO this morning was Amy Schmidt, Manager of Loss Control Services in the Kansas City Region of United Heartland. Amy led a phenomenal discussion with our young entrepreneurs rooted on the topic of ‘Crafting People Experiences.’ Her message to students was clear – no matter which career path you choose, how you treat others and how you make people feel will make all the difference.
--
She shared several great resources with our students including;
- How to Win Friends and Influence People (Dale Carnegie)
- The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (Stephen R. Covey)
- People Love You: The Secret to Delivering Legendary Customer Experiences (Jeb Blount)
…and more!
--
Be sincere in your interest with others. Listen and genuinely care about their lives, experiences and what others bring to the table. There is a big difference between empathy and sympathy. Image is perception, not reality. You are always on stage and first impressions are huge. It is never too early to start thinking about your personal brand and who you want people to think you are.
--
Amy, thank you SO much for taking the time to meet with our seniors this morning. We sincerely enjoyed visiting with you and cannot thank you enough for putting such a positive spring in our step today! :)
