Today CEO students visited GCS Credit Union. Lyn Harper, Branch Manager, talked to the students about the 14 years she has worked for the credit union and how she worked her way to her current position. As a branch manager it is important to be involved in the community. She volunteers at the Edwardsville Children’s Museum and is a member of the Chamber of Commerce. She prepares taxes for middle to low income residents through a GCS program called VITA and will soon be a financial counselor for members that may be struggling with their finances. GCS also has a program called “RAKS” or Random Acts of Kindness. “ Lyn’s presentation on Financial Literacy was very informative and included lots of tips on how to budget, how to get and keep a good credit score and ways to avoid “money problems. “. Finally she invited each student to apply for a $2000 GCS Scholarship that is awarded annually. The session ended with each student receiving a goody bag that included a “Grizzlies” cap, a hot/cold cup, sunglasses and a $5 Starbucks gift card. Wow! Thanks to Tammy Wofford, GCS CFO and CEO Board Member for arranging the visit and to Lyn Harper for a great presentation. Your community and customer service is outstanding.
